Probe One Music POM-14, released January 2015
A 7-track live EP, released as download-only. We recorded this at the National Celtic Festival in Portarlington (Victoria) back in June 2014, always one of our favourite places to play. If not for technological failures, we’d have recorded the second night’s set as well, and probably have an album rather than an EP!
Two previously unreleased tracks on this EP – Isle of France, a traditional lyric put to a new tune, is included. It features a fantastic electric banjo riff from CC Thornley. We also have Ain’t No Grave (Can Hold my Body Down), a traditional American number recorded by Johnny Cash just before he died. We recorded a studio version of this song last year for a Celtic Johnny Cash tribute album – as yet unreleased.
I really like the version of The Fisherman included here. On the Coming Up for Air album it was recorded as a trio, but the addition of bass and drums gives it a new feel.
We also filmed this gig, and all of the songs on this release are available on Youtube as videos too…
